Gift cards

Gift cards are a virtual product often sold on Shopify. The learn more about how to use gift cards, review Shopify's Gift card guide It's important to note some Shopify limitations when offering gift cards and how customers use them for partially paid orders.

Gift card deposit order limitations

Gift cards cannot be used during the initial purchase of a product that has a deposit. You will notice an error message from Shopify similar to the one below. This is a Shopify limitation, please contact Shopify support to request this feature.

Using gift cards to pay remaining balance

Gift cards can be used to pay the remaining balance of an order placed with Downpay.

Store credit has a few limitations when using it with partial payment orders with Downpay.
